We congratulate Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock on her appointment as Board Chair for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Houston METRO). METRO provides an essential service connecting Houstonians to jobs, healthcare, education, and recreation. We thank outgoing Chair Ramabhadran for his leadership and service in laying a solid foundation to make the system more frequent, accessible, and reliable. To achieve her goal of making “public transit a safe, clean, and viable option for everyone,” we urge Ms. Brock to deliver on the voter approved METRONext Moving Forward Plan.
LINK Houston envisions a city where it’s possible to be a first-class resident without owning a car, and a robust and reliable public transit system is key to achieving that vision. We offer Ms. Brock our support and partnership and invite her to join us on a transit tour of the city to hear directly from daily riders who are still coping with reduced service in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. We remain steadfast in our commitment to hold METRO leadership accountable to their mission and ridership.
