FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gabe Cazares to Depart as Executive Director of LINK Houston After Two Years of Service

HOUSTON, TX – September 17, 2024 – LINK Houston announces that Gabe Cazares, who has served as Executive Director since August 2022, will be stepping down from his role no later than December 31, 2024, after two years of dedicated service. Under Gabe’s leadership, LINK Houston has significantly advanced its mission to advocate for equitable, multimodal transportation options that connect all Houstonians to opportunity.

During his tenure, Gabe has been instrumental in bringing national media attention to LINK Houston’s work, highlighting the critical importance of transportation equity in one of the nation’s largest and most diverse cities. He has also strengthened the organization by expanding the staff, bringing on new members with diverse skill sets and fresh perspectives that have enriched our approach to addressing Houston’s transportation challenges.

Gabe’s commitment to deepening relationships with community partners has been a cornerstone of his leadership, ensuring that LINK Houston’s advocacy is always grounded in the lived experiences and needs of communities historically excluded from transportation and infrastructure decision-making tables. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter for LINK Houston, but it is also a moment of opportunity as we continue our work with a strong, capable team ready to build on the solid foundation Gabe has helped to strengthen.

“LINK Houston remains steadfast in our commitment to improving transportation options for all Houstonians,” said Amanda Timm, Chair of LINK Houston’s Board of Directors. “We are confident that the organization will continue to thrive and advance our mission during this transitional period, thanks to the talented and committed team that Gabe has helped cultivate.”

We are grateful for Gabe’s contributions and wish him the very best in his future endeavors. LINK Houston will continue to build on the momentum of his work, driving forward our vision of a Houston where it’s possible to be a first-class resident without owning a car.

The search for our next Executive Director is now open, review the job posting. For inquiries regarding the search, please contact Amanda Timm, Board Chair, at Jobs@linkhouston.org.
