Send a letter to the METRO Board and your Council Member and ask to keep the enhanced Service Changes – even after FIFA ends.

Tell METRO: Keep enhanced transit after FIFA!

Do you believe that METRO should keep the enhanced service changes after FIFA, but can’t attend the METRO Board Meeting?

Send a message to the METRO board and to your local representatives and let them know how much you have enjoyed the increased frequency of services – and urge them to keep this enhanced service in place after the games are over. Houstonians deserve world class service 365 days a year.

Your voice holds power! Speak up for transit at the METRO Board Meeting.

When LINK Houston surveys transit riders, more frequent service is the request we hear more than any other. During the FIFA World Cup, riders are getting exactly that — with the most frequent service in METRO history! We are currently getting a taste of what voters asked for in the 2019 METRONext bond vote. If you would like to see the current FIFA service levels remain past the World Cup then sign up to speak and let the board and Chair Brock know.

When: Thursday, June 25, 2026

What Time: 9:00 am

How to Register: You can sign up to speak in-person or virtually by emailing BoardOffice@RideMETRO.org or calling 713-739-4834. You must register 48 hours in advance (Tuesday, June 23, 2026).

What are the service changes?

From June 7 – July 11 METRO is running drastically enhanced service for the duration of the FIFA World Cup games held in Houston. This isn’t just for visitors – it’s for all of us – and it’s a step towards what 68% of Houston voters asked for in 2019.

Now, we invite you to help! As Nick explains in our Houston Chronicle OpEd, more riders today build the case for more frequent transit tomorrow.

tldr: These changes include:

  • Park and Ride routes are running every 30 minutes, until midnight, seven days a week.

  • METRORail is running more frequently – every 6 minutes on the Red Line until 9 p.m. and every 12 minutes after, and every 12 minutes on the Green and Purple Lines – seven days a week.

  • Ten more local routes – including the 20 Canal/Memorial, 25 Richmond, 26 Long Point/Calvacade, 82 Westheimer, and 85 Antoine/Washington – are running more frequently and later into the evening – seven days a week.
