What would change in your life if driving wasn't an option?
More than one third of people in the United States are nondrivers. People may not drive because of age, disability, the cost of owning and operating a vehicle – or simply because they choose not to. Yet most of our transportation system is built around the assumption that everyone drives.
From October 1-8, LINK Houston invites you to join Week Without Driving, a national movement that elevates the experiences of nondrivers and asks all of us to think differently about how we move through our communities.
Why Week Without Driving?
Week Without Driving began in 2021 as a way for elected officials, transportation professionals, advocates, and community members to better understand the barriers nondrivers navigate every day.
By experiencing our transportation network differently, we can better understand why safe sidewalks, accessible streets, reliable public transit, and connected biking and rolling infrastructure are essential to ensuring that all Houstonians can access opportunity.
October 3-8 | Week Without Driving: BINGO
Pickup or download your Week Without Driving BINGO card and spend the week exploring Houston beyond the driver’s seat. We’ve filled the card with challenges designed to help you experience transportation differently, discover places around Houston, notice the infrastructure around you, and maybe learn a few tricks along the way.
Pick and choose your challenges – share the fun on your socials. BINGO cards drop Friday, October 2nd.

Houston's Saddest Sidewalk Challenge
Think you’ve found Houston’s saddest sidewalk? Show us.
LINK Houston and Air Alliance Houston are asking Houstonians to document the sidewalks that make getting around on foot or by mobility device difficult, uncomfortable, or downright impossible.
Missing sidewalks. Crumbling pavement. Inaccessible crossings. Paths that suddenly disappear. We want to see them.
Why? Sidewalks are transportation infrastructure.
For people who walk, roll, bike, or use public transit, a safe and accessible sidewalk can determine whether someone can reach a bus stop, get to work, visit a doctor, buy groceries, or move safely through their own neighborhood.
Snap a photo, tell us where it is, and submit your nomination between October 1 and 8.
We’ll announce Houston’s Saddest Sidewalk at our Week Without Driving closing celebration at Axelrad on October 8.
