FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LINK HOUSTON ANNOUNCES PETER ECCLES, AICP AS ITS DIRECTOR OF POLICY AND PLANNING

HOUSTON, Thursday February 9, 2023 – LINK Houston is thrilled to announce that Peter Eccles, AICP will be joining as our new Director of Policy and Planning. He currently serves as Project Manager, Major Projects for the city’s Planning and Development Department. Over the past six years, he has developed a keen understanding of Houston’s transportation ecosystem, the issues facing its constituent communities, and the leaders and organizations that make it tick.

“Since childhood, I have felt an itch to explore all that I could by bike, bus, or train. Said Peter Eccles, AICP. As I have grown older, these obsessions have taken on a purpose. My professional work has deepened my appreciation of how one’s transportation choices shape so many other choices in their lives. This is what motivates me, and I am inspired by LINK Houston’s shared mission to ensure all people can reach opportunity no matter how they travel.”

Peter is an avid public transit user and cyclist, an instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists, has completed over 4,000 miles of cross-country touring, and spends his weekends giving historical bike tours of Downtown Houston. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners.

“We are excited to welcome Peter to our team and look forward to benefiting from his breadth of experience in the work LINK Houston is doing to expand access to reliable multimodal transportation,” said Gabe Cazares, Executive Director. “We are excited to grow as an organization with his addition to the team.” Peter will start with the organization on Monday February 20, 2023.

LINK Houston advocates for a robust and equitable transportation network so that all people can reach opportunity. The organization envisions a community fabric where all people have the freedom of mobility to access the opportunities their vibrant communities offer. To make that vision a reality, LINK Houston supports transformative and inclusive policies, systems, initiatives, and infrastructure development that connect people to opportunity by transit, walking, rolling, and biking. LINK Houston moves ideas into action through community engagement, research, and shaping public policy.
