Here’s How to Get There by Transit, Bike and Car.

Transit and the City 2024 is being held during National Week Without Driving, a nationwide week of action that seeks to educate elected officials, public officials, advocates and individuals of the barriers faced by non-drivers trying to move safely through their communities. 

To highlight the importance of the week we will host two events: 

  • Transit and the City Community Conversation, a panel discussion with local and national experts on transportation access on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Rec Room Theater (100 Jackson St.) from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. You can get to the Rec Room:
    • By transit: Take METRO routes 6, 20, 30, 48, 137, 151. Get off at Crawford Street and walk one block east.
    • By bike: Ride north along the Austin Street bike lane or east along the Buffalo Bayou Park trail (south bank). Ride east three blocks on Franklin Street. Limited bike parking along the fence outside the venue.
    • By car: Metered parking and pay lots available on block of venue.
  • Transit and the City Community Celebration will follow on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the St. Arnold’s Beer Hall (2000 Lyons Ave.). This event will be in the Beer Hall on the second level in the RED BRICK BUILDING. You can get to St. Arnolds:
    • By transit: Take METRO route 11. Get off at Maury Street and walk one block east.
    • By bike: Ride east along the MKT trail to McKee Street, north along McKee Street, then east on Lyons Avenue (all protected bike lanes). Free BIKE VALET available outside entrance thanks to BikeHouston.
    • By car: Free parking available on site.
