One airport line’s enough. Metro must serve all Houston. [Editorial]

When it was rolled out, the ambitious $7.5 billion Metro Moving Forward plan for the next generation of transit in Houston showed both the Green and Purple light rail lines extending all the way from downtown to Hobby Airport.

Besides, rail to the airport is touted by civic leaders as a necessary amenity of a major city, important as a park such as Discovery Green or convention center. “It’s an enticing thing for an elected official, because it’s a nice, shiny deliverable,” Oni Blair, the executive director of transit advocacy group LINK Houston, told the Editorial Board
